The Other Right ‘Love Potion’ Shiraz

I need some crushable/chillable red this week and tbh - I need to believe in LOVE! Also I’ve taken this bottle home way too much cuz it is soooooo freakin’ good - without further ado, meet my current WINE CRUSH.

tbh - ‘Love Potion’ Shiraz is not only everything I love in a natty/ crushable/ chillable wine (did you ever think you would hear that about Shiraz from Australia?! cuz I didn’t but here we are!) - anyway, I digress as usual. To the point, this natty/ crushable/ chillable Shiraz is not only delicious, it is also part of an ethos that we wholeheartedly support and love here at Molly’s!

Alex & Galit not only make gorgeous natural wine from amazing old vines - they are also super thorough with their labor practices and everything else along the supply chain. To ensure that nothing they’re doing is benefitting from unethical labor (so important on so many levels). For example, when they have seasonal workers, they make sure to pay well, provide insurance if/when needed, housing that is actually livable…etc. etc.

Warning tangent here: If you were to pay attention to how migrant workers are treated in most of the wine (or any agricultural/ manual labor world), you would start to realize how that “affordable” bottle of wine etc. is made so “affordable” And you would understand that these are super important topics of discussion! I mean come on - if we’re here upholding unflinching standards of production, farming and winemaking then we absolutely have to be turning that same lens to the labor that farms and picks and works in those cellars. “Do they pay their workers?” is just as important a question to ask than “Is it natural?” of course, there are more questions so tangent almost over but this is topic that we need to be thinking/ talking about as consumers in ALL parts of our lives.
And now we resume our normal crush!

‘The Other Right’ comes from a family joke ~ Galit had a hard time distinguishing left from right and would shout out, “Not this right, the other right!” But Galit and Alex say that it’s also about alternative winemaking / farming / life/ etc.
plus The word ‘Right’ is used in so many ways so why can’t they push boundaries - not take themselves too seriously and still be ‘Right' while making well-made/ intentional wine?

My amazing community - this wine is pure crushable juice with a classic peppery, slightly meaty backbone. It’s sultry and sexy! I really want you to explore this wine with every sip (not like me cuz I drink it too fast - it is sooooo GOOD)! Peppery notes for days (without being too peppery) - sour pie cherry with ripe raspberries to balance and minerality with just enough meaty tannins & hints of eucalyptus to remind you that this is Australian Shiraz! Incredibly juicy, soooo full of life and so full of flavor. Truly such a reflection of these people brimming with joy and whimsy and a willingness to experiment!

I’ll leave you with this bit from their website, “We love making people see things differently. We love a challenge. We love creating things that push the boundaries and are exciting, yet simple and approachable. Most of all we're trying to have fun and not take ourselves too seriously.

Our wines are an expression of us; sometimes a little rough on the edges, full of contradictions. They carry our thoughts, passions, dreams, foot and hand print. We see them as living things; untamed, happy and free spirited. We would love to think that when you drink our wine, you're a part of our world.”
