Achille Cremant d'Alsace
It’s safe to say that the Dietrich family does things a little differently than most. When Pierre & Jean joined their father, Yves, in 2016, he was already working biodynamically in the vineyards. Then the family built the largest straw bale/ off the grid winery to house the old family barrels and began to craft some amazing wines! AND THEN they partnered with their community to create a fun-filled, community space that happens to be their winery as well. It’s pretty common to find a party going on in the great room outside the tanks with friends or mom cooking and bottles being shared.
So here’s the deal - I LOVE bubbles! And particularly champagne when done well - no added sugar, etc. And in the best twist of happiness for me, this wine tastes soooo much like champagne but without the price point of champagne. Soooooo….. in keeping with the fun and do-things-differently vibes, this is made from Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Auxerrois, and Chardonnay. Most Cremant d’Alsace is made primarily from Pinot Blanc… most Cremant d’Alsace has some sort of dosage.
This one has ZERO dosage. Most Cremant d’Alsace has at the very least, a bit of SO2 added. This one has NONE whatsoever. So you see why I’m crushing!! This is the Dietrich family/ Alsace’s answer to a Blanc de Blancs Champagne.
Lively & delicate with super fine bubbles that tingle with hints of citrus zest yet full-bodied & firm tannic structure. Bits of smoky apples, yellow fruit, grated almonds & a little bit of spice. All i can say is yes please! WOW!! And can I have another glass?!!
