ROSE ALL THE TIME!
I love rose, and don't see any reason you shouldn't drink it all year round. Especially this past year, with every possible supply chain breakdown/tariff/climate problem/container ship issue that there's even more reason to drink it with total abandon!
All the ships filled with all the yummy rose have FINALLY landed. At this point, who hasn't experienced ordering something that doesn't arrive for a whole year? Rose (and champagne and plenty of other wine) has been that for us. Rose shouldn't be relegated to hot summer days - it has just as much a place in the winter months. The key is to find the most perfect, fresh rose that awakens the senses and brightens these dark days.
Also let's talk about how people think the color of rose indicates sweetness. Not the case at all! It's all about the pigment in those grape skins and how much time the juice spends them. They can be super dark and still super dry. So, maybe give something a chance you would've passed by in the past. It just might surprise you.
Here's a few I'm massively crushing on this time of year!!
Casa Vieja Rosado - winemaker Humberto is the best and this rose is too. This is a blend of Mision and Palomino from the Valle de Guadalupe and I looooove it. So crunchy delicious and wild, with the most lovely texture.
La Araucaria Rosado - super amazing woman winemaker, Dolores Cabrera, in the Canary Islands who is working to get her fellow farmers to convert to organics. This rose of Listan Negro is bursting with plum and cracked pepper. You can feel the imprint of the volcanic Tenerife soil.
Travis Tausend 'Agori' Rose - This blend of Australian Pinot Noir and Merlot is super dry and delish. Light, wispy, fresh, and smells like a spray of ocean mist. But still so satisfying on a cold day. It'd go great with that seafood at your holiday party. This one is still, not sparkling.
side note: a lot of producers are turning to crown caps cuz it's way more environmentally friendly.
